Nomination deadlines for Spring Livestock Shows announced

October 06, 2006 10:56 am

Now that the various fair livestock shows are over, Garvin County 4-H and FFA members are beginning preparations for county and state wide spring livestock shows.
And organizers of those spring shows are cautioning exhibitors to pay attention to the fast approaching deadlines for steer, goat and sheep nominations.
The 70th annual Garvin County Spring Livestock Show will be held February 27 through March 2, 2007 at the Garvin County Fairgrounds in Pauls Valley.
The Oklahoma Youth Expo (OYE) will be held March 7-19, 2007 in Oklahoma City. Nominations for these shows are submitted via mail-in DNA test kits.
The DNA kits must be ordered from the OYE office by Oklahoma Cooperative Extension staff or Ag Ed instructors only.
The cost of the DNA kits are $10 each and once ordered cannot be returned to the OYE offices for refund. For this reason livestock show participants must be sure they are only ordering the number of kits they will need, and are required to pay for them in advance of the order.
It is also asked that participants order from either the Extension office OR their Ag Instructor to avoid duplicate orders.
Deadlines have also been set for those wishing to order kits from the Extension office to meet OYE nomination deadlines.
For complete information on schedules, entry rules and guidelines for the Oklahoma Youth Expo you may visit their web site at http://www.okyouthexpo.com.
