DHS to shrink NORCE caregiver staff by 30

ENID, Okla. — The state is offering as many as 30 buyouts for full-time caregivers at Northern Oklahoma Resource Center of Enid.

A Department of Human Services spokesman confirmed human resources professionals were meeting with employees at the facility Tuesday.

About 130 or 140 direct care specialists were told of the offer, and buyouts will be given on a first-come, first-served basis, said DHS Communications Manager Mark Beutler. Those who accept the terms of the buyout will work until Dec. 3.

Employment figures from July showed that more than 150 vocational and residential direct care specialists were employed at the facility.

NORCE is scheduled to close in 2015, while Southern Oklahoma Resource Center, its sister facility in Pauls Valley, will shut down operations next year.
