The art works of Pauls Valley native Trent Lawson and the music of two U.S. Air Force bands are two events the Pauls Valley Arts Council has added to an already busy 2006 arts calendar.
Both events are slated for May and both will occur the week after Main Street Pauls Valley’s annual Brickfest celebration, making for an eventful week of activities in Pauls Valley.
On the Monday after Brickfest, May 8, the Pauls Valley Arts Council will welcome two U.S. Air Force bands to the Pauls Valley High School Auditorium for a delightful evening of music.
The woodwind and brass quintets from the U.S. Air Force’s Band of Mid America will give a stirring performance of patriotic, classical and traditional music during the 7 p.m. concert.
The Pauls Valley concert was added to the bands’ schedule this week. There will be no admission charge to the concert, though general admission tickets will be required.
More information on the concert will be available in a later issue of the Daily Democrat, which is also one of the co-sponsors of the concert.
The weekend of May 12-14 will showcase the art work of Pauls Valley native Trent Lawson. The show will be at Stark Art, located at 118 W. Charles.
Lawson attended Oklahoma City University, graduating in 2002 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. He is currently on the Board of Directors for the Individual Artists of Oklahoma.
The Lawson art show will be the third art show of the year sponsored by the PVAC. Earlier this month the PVAC hosted a fine art photography show and this March 31-April 2 the PVAC will host a showing of art exhibits featuring Pauls Valley High School art students.
