‘Frozen’ one of best animated in 2013
Perhaps it is just being a young boy at heart, but after watching Disney animated films for nearly three decades, I’m not quite that excited when the latest princess flick is announced.
‘HG: Catching Fire’ burns bright as sequel
I know I can’t feel completely alone when the economical divide portrayed in today’s reviewed film appears as a scenario our own society could verily easily become a part of.
‘Last Vegas’ crotchety hilarity at its best
I only hope that the day I cross the threshold of my youth into the senior years of life that most of my hilarity is still based on snarky humor instead of progressive brain decay.
‘Thor: Dark World’ hammers through acceptable sequel
Many a critic can complain all the live long day how countless movies so easily discard any semblance of a stable plot.
‘Prisoners’ takes freaking audience out to extreme
There are many blessings I can count in my life so far, like never having to experience the trauma of war or dealing with the loss of someone I know in a grisly manner.
‘Meatballs 2’ works best as 2013 animated sequel
As a way to provide a deeper meaning or justification as to why I love animated movies so much, I’ve always found them the perfect excuse to stick it to the people who think there’s some unwritten requirement to grow up.
‘World War Z’ less graphic, but still a thrilling ride
No matter how clear one attempts to make their mind before seeing a film, if you have read the book it is based on before you enter the theater, it is nearly impossible to put aside pre-set expectations.
‘We’re the Millers’ well-polished low brow fun
Massive brain cell lost may often be the result, but just the right execution of even the dumbest plot can come off as a winner if the cast can convince the audience they belong in their wacky roles.
“Mortal Instruments” seesaws between snores, agonizing angst
Try and tolerate with all of my might, there are just simply some films where the only way I can make it through is to accept that at least I am not suffering through the crap alone.
‘Planes’ much more decent chapter than “Cars” sequel
As another summer stacked with box office milking sequels departs and is sure to leave most of them to the bargain bin of future forgettables, why not include the latest example from the empire of the mouse.
