Pauls Valley, Oklahoma —
One driver’s failure to stop at a traffic sign is listed as the cause of a three-vehicle accident near Stratford on Monday afternoon.
State troopers reported a 1999 Chevrolet driven by Charles Edward Shannon, 31, of Ada went through a stop sign at 4:39 p.m. as he approached state Highway 19 about 3 miles west of Stratford.
The vehicle then struck a SUV driven by Sunee Lynn Gibson, 33, of Dougherty.
An Oklahoma Highway Patrol report shows the second vehicle then rolled into the eastbound lane of SH 19, where it was struck by a pickup driven by Christopher Michael Soto, 32, of Elmore City.
The worst of the injuries was believed to have been sustained by Soto, who was airlifted to an Oklahoma City hospital. He was initially listed in serious condition.
Shannon was airlifted to a Norman hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
Gibson was also listed as stable after being taken by ambulance to Pauls Valley General Hospital.
