Pauls Valley, Oklahoma —
Pauls Valley officials have voted to call off, at least for now, an election on a proposed half-cent sales tax to support the local hospital.
The election on the tax measure had been scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 12.
Not any more as three members of the Pauls Valley City Council voted in a brief special meeting Wednesday night to rescind the resolution that called for the election in the first place.
Mayor Gary Alfred and councilmen Patrick Grimmett and Mike Parrish, along with City Manager James Frizell, said a more finalized plan about the hospital’s future must first be in place before they ask voters to support a sales tax measure.
This is the second time an election date has been set for the tax measure only to later be rescinded.
More on the election resolution being rescinded will be featured in the weekend edition of the PV Democrat.
