bporterfield@pvdemocrat.com — A Texas man is being held in Garvin County’s jail on a $2.5 million bond Thursday on allegations he used a knife to murder two people, including a young boy, in the Ft. Worth area.

Cedric Ricks, 38, was given the seven-figure bond by a judge here on a felony count of fugitive from justice filed in Garvin County District Court.

Ricks is reported to have refused extradition back to Texas. A hearing on the extradition issue is scheduled for May 30 here in Pauls Valley.

Ricks is accused of using a knife to kill Roxann Diana Sanchez, 30, and Anthony Reyes Figueroa, 8, during an incident Wednesday night in Bedford, Texas, which is a suburb of Ft. Worth.

A third stabbing victim, a 12-year-old male, is still hospitalized at Cooks Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth, while an infant at the scene was unharmed.

Ricks is the infant’s father, said Lt. David Smith of the Bedford Police.

Ricks was captured by Oklahoma state troopers only hours after the deadly stabbings at a site west of Wynnewood and only a few miles south of Pauls Valley.
