Crime is target of new program

Barry Porterfield
Pauls Valley Democrat — The Garvin County Sheriff’s Department is kicking off a brand new neighborhood watch program for homes and businesses throughout all rural areas of the county.

The program is meant to provide education and make the public more aware of the things it can do to lower the chances of being hit by crime.

A number of things will be featured, including inventory sheets.

The sheets will allow residents to list out their personal belongings, including serial numbers or distinctive markings on items.

That information could then assist authorities in the case of a burglary.

Editor's Note: More on the crime watch program will be in the weekend’s edition of the PV Democrat.
