Ward elected OBN board president

— Jackye Ward, MS, RN, CNAA, BC, Vice President of Patient Care Services for Valley View Regional Hospital was recently elected as President of the Oklahoma Board of Nursing.
Ward has served as a member of the Board of Nursing for three years (out of a five year term). Members are appointed by the Governor of Oklahoma and then elect their President.
This prestigious position comes with many responsibilities including presiding over the bi-monthly meetings, preparing the agenda for these meetings, and appointing committee members.
“I am very excited to serve in this roll,” states Ward. “I have been fortunate to be surrounded by so many talented people; without the support of those around me I would not be able to take advantage of opportunities such as this. I am glad to give back to a profession that has given so much to me.”
Prior to being appointed to the board Ward served as Chair of the Nursing Education Committee and Nursing Practice Advisory Committee.
She has been a highly valued nurse with Valley View since 1979. She has served as a staff nurse, Assistant Supervisor, Director of Surgery and has been our Vice President of Patient Care and Chief Nursing Officer since 1992.
Ward resides in Ada with her husband, Rory, and their son, Broderick. She is the daughter of Harrell Blackburn of Pauls Valley and the late Marlene Blackburn.
