  • States rights ride again

The concept of states rights originated in the South when the white majority resented federal meddling with integration. It took a long time for civil rights forces to overcome the mean-spirited, narrow-minded and illegal Jim Crow laws and force states to actually become a united states when it came to equal treatment for all citizens.

  • Building on the lessons learned from music

Look at the history of any great individual from way back when to the stars of today and the most common theme is that they all have someone to thank for their road to success.

  • Answering calls from 88 keys

While it could very well be impossible to find many examples of my life where I am ever 100 percent serious, there was a tiny period of time where I found things more interesting than my sense of humor. • Rivalry and losses make life all that more fun

(Cue the black and white television ad with Mayberry type music) I bet you remember the time when little Johnny failed to hit the game winning home run or cross into the end zone for the last second touchdown and how disappointed he felt.

  • The more we deny our faults the dumber we look

  • God did not create the government in his own image

In the beginning there was darkness and in that darkness a lone elephant and donkey did battle mightily. At first it was pretty hard to see because light had not been invented, so only occasionally did the two bump into one another and declare victory.

  • Chickens could manage the BCS more efficiently

I will with no regret admit that I am far from the biggest sports expert in this region dominated by athletic tradition. It is only in the past five years, perhaps decade that I have given more than a passing glance to who did what and how much rear they kicked since the first intense rivalry began.

  • The valuable gains with dirty old men

As I've become increasingly dislocated in recent years, I've found the classic cliche, "you never know what you've lost until it is gone" may not sound as silly as I once thought. In fact, in my move to Garvin County in Oklahoma I've found that as usual I try to replace certain voids that appeared when I was in my last journey location.

  • Kids may not be the worst with cell phones

If you step away from the individual failings of society you may notice that the biggest problem with society is that we have too many problems.

  • Putting the fear in Fearklahoma

Something I understand and roll my eyes about more than any other subject after growing up in the south is the abuse of fear. As I’ve sarcastically journeyed through adulthood I can’t help but notice how more ignorant this display of scare becomes.
