Oklahoma woman confesses to sex with boy, 13

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Police in Oklahoma’s Cherokee County arrested a 27-year-old woman this week after they said she confessed to having sex with a 13-year-old boy on multiple occasions.

According to booking records, Amanda Don Ballard is being held on 20 counts of second-degree rape. However, investigators said this week that they were unsure of how many counts she could ultimately face.

Undersheriff Jason Chennault said Deputy Dexter Scott was asked to investigate an out-of-control 13-year-old boy last weekend.

“When he started talking to the boy, the boy started telling him about having sex (with the 27-year-old woman,” Chennault said. “(Ballard) admitted to it.”

Chennault added that Ballard estimated she’d had about 20 sexual encounters with the boy. “By her account, it happened in Tahlequah, sometimes in the county, sometimes in vehicles,” he said.

Chennault said Ballard is being held on second-degree rape charges because she did not force the 13-year-old to participate.

“They had easy access to each other,” said Chennault.

Several search warrants have been filed in the case, including some for electronic information.

“We don’t know yet how many warrants there will be,” said Chennault.

When the investigation concludes, prosecutors will make the final call on what charges to file against Ballard, Chennault said.

In the meantime, Ballard has been given a $75,000 bond, according to employees at the Cherokee County Detention Center.

Information for this story was reported by the Tahlequah (Okla.) Daily Press.
