The Toy and Action Figure Museum in Pauls Valley is gearing up for a different kind of 4th celebration, along with other festivities on its play list down the road.
During PV’s big community celebration known as BrickFest, the museum in the downtown area will again be offering the popular Star Wars related event “May the 4th Be With You” on Saturday, May 4.
Adding a nice touch to the event is the museum’s “Comic Book Day.”
“It will be Star Wars Day and free Comic Book Day,” said museum director Ryan Peacock.
“We will give away free comic books that day,” he said. “Everybody gets one until we run out.”
The museum is also gearing up for its next movie promotion day, along with the big Hot Wheels Double Dog Dare Derby action coming later in May.
This weekend, Saturday, April 27, the museum will feature Iron Man Day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. that day with a number of activities to be featured as part of the upcoming movie Iron Man 3.
Peacock said there will be a new display, while museum visitors can take part in a couple of Iron Man games.
One is a shooting gallery with related activities that have an Iron Man touch.
“You’ll be able to test your skills and be part of the Iron Man army,” he said about Iron Man disk shooting.
In this one Peacock said visitors will put an Iron Man weapon around their wrist, squeeze and fire out disks at a target.
“We’ll have evil villains for them to knock down.”
Another game featured that day is a scavenger hunt as participants look for Iron Man related items.
Even bigger action is planned for the Hot Wheels racing event set for May 25.
That action with racing and more will again take place just outside of the museum on McClure Avenue.
Those interesting in taking part in the racing can register their Hot Wheels cars anytime just by going to the museum in the 100 block of South Chickasaw.
“You can register as many times as you want,” Peacock said, adding it will be $6 a car.
“You can use one of your own cars or one of ours, but the cars have to be Hot Wheels cars and unaltered.”
The actual races begin at 11 a.m. that day as sign in starts early in the morning.
Along with the racing the event will have plenty of other activities with vendors, carnival games and a few surprises.
“In between the racing heats we’ve going to have water gun fights, Whack the Wookie, stuff like that,” he said.
The water gun fights could include up to 100 people at one time, while the left over from the Star Wars’ event is Whack the Wookie.
