Search still on for ball coach

bporterfield@pvdemocrat.com — The search is still on for Pauls Valley’s next head football coach after the job came open just a handful of weeks ago.

John Inman, the Panthers’ top coach for the past couple of seasons, announced his intention to leave and take a similar job in Lindsay.

With the news coming nearly a month ago PV school officials have been preparing for the process that ultimately will find that new coach.

Kirk Moore, assistant principal at Pauls Valley High School, is also busy working it as the athletic director.

Moore said right now it’s all about applications from interested coaches. From there it’s about interviewing those candidates, which is expected to get underway this week.

“Right now we're compiling all applications,” Moore said.

“I'm looking at interviews starting the week of April 8,” he said.

Pauls Valley’s school AD said this search is just like those in the past, any current assistant coaches interested in the job will get a close look.

“They're always considered,” Moore said.

“We're not going to limit ourselves. We open it up and see who applies.”

Inman was named Pauls Valley’s football coach back in April 2011 after serving as an assistant coach in Lindsay for several seasons.

During both of Inman’s seasons here the Panthers started slow but came on strong to make it to the playoffs.

He is expected to continue his PV duties in the classroom and as a coach during the spring track season before leaving for Lindsay.

Inman made it clear it was a difficult decision to leave Pauls Valley, but it was made to return to Lindsay for family reasons.

Inman will be the head football coach for the Leopards after the current school year.
