Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Help will now be offered not once but twice a month for military veterans and their families in the Garvin County area looking to file benefit claims with the Veterans Administration.

The new practice by Veteran’s Aid of Oklahoma, Inc. gets started next month with assistance sessions set for Oct. 2 and Oct. 16 in Purcell.

The reason for the extra session is simple — more and more veterans are needing help in filing a claim with the V.A.

“Assistance will be offered twice a month now as we have grown and there is a greater need for us to offer our services more frequently,” said Carl Ellison.

“We will now offer services on the first and third Wednesday of each month.”

Times for these next two claims assistance days are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the McClain County Community Building, 2101 Hardcastle in Purcell.

Those attending are asked to enter through the building’s north side doors.

Veterans are reminded this a free service offered to military veterans and their families.

“It’s our honor to serve all veterans, who have proudly served our country,” Ellison said.

Questions about claims and what veterans need to bring to a session can be answered by calling Ellison at 405-823-0910.

He stresses efforts are now geared at doing “fully develop” claims, which when presented to the V.A. can be awarded within 110 days or less.

• Here in Pauls Valley the momentum is growing for a December performance of the classic story “It’s a Wonderful Life.”

A second and final audition is now scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3 at the Arts and Cultural Center, located at the Main Street PV office at the corner of Paul and Walnut streets.

No advanced preparation is needed.

Especially needed are more male and young adult actors, as well as help with tech/multimedia, advertising and promotions.

The Pauls Valley Arts Council production is a 1940s-style radio-script version that requires no memorization and nominal costuming and sets.
