Pauls Valley, Oklahoma —
A deadline is only a few days away for voters in the Pauls Valley and Maysville school districts to get their registrations in order before upcoming school board elections.
Voters in the two area districts have until Friday, Jan. 17 to get registered to vote or update their voter information if they want to cast a ballot during the elections scheduled for Feb. 11.
A single office on the Pauls Valley Board of Education will be contested during the election.
A trio of candidates are seeking the office, including incumbent Joe Don Looney.
Looney, while looking for a new five-year term, is being challenged by Brandi Harris and Randy McGee.
The only other PV board office scheduled to be on the ballot has already gone to Craig Ensey, who was unopposed for the unexpired term of the office formerly held by Michelle Wood.
Ensey was appointed to the office in early October to essentially serve out this first year of Wood’s full five-year term.
Without any opposition Ensey earned the office for the remainder of the term.
In Maysville there are actually two board races set for the election.
For the No. 4 office on Maysville’s school board Vickie Foraker and Cindy Wilmot are running for a five-year term.
Tyler W. Dean and Heidi Gamble are the candidates for the unexpired term of Maysville’s No. 2 office.
All the remaining school districts in Garvin County had school board offices filled by candidates who were unopposed for their respective seats.
They included Everett Plummer, who earned a three-year term in Whitebead, Tony Davis a five-year term in Elmore City-Pernell, Adrianne Olguin in Paoli (five-year term), Terry Brown in Wynnewood (five-year term), John D. Cothren in Stratford (five-year term) and John Harrison in Lindsay (five-year term).
