One Pauls Valley student is hoping for a little help from his friends when it comes to sharing in some brand new high tech gadgetry.
In fact, Danny Cifuentes is hoping to raise some money to help him and few hundred other people get to experience a pair of special glasses that appears to represent that new wave in the world of technology.
Cifuentes, a senior at Pauls Valley High School, is one of a select few across the entire United States selected to try these glasses that essentially gives the user a more convenient hands-off experience.
According to Cifuentes, the glasses perform the same functions of a “smart” phone, capable of doing so much more than just calls, such as social media and accessing the Internet.
“It’s basically like having an iPhone on your face,” Cifuentes said about the glasses.
“I signed up to become an explorer. I’m one of 1,200 people in the entire United States to get selected,” he said.
“The only catch is I’ve got to come up with $1,500 to buy it. Still, that’s a small price for technology that could change the world.”
The thing about these science fiction type glasses is they haven’t hit the open market yet.
Before they are available to the public Google Glass came up with the drawing idea to get people selected to use the glasses.
Apparently the company wants this smaller group to use the glasses and let them know what they think.
Cifuentes does have a plan to get the money to acquire the glasses.
“I figured if I come up 300 people who would like to experience this with me, we could all be one of the first people to try out this technology,” he said.
What he’s asking for from this group of 300 is to chip in $5 each.
The idea is to pool the money, get the glasses purchased and then each person gets a chance to try the glasses out.
“They will be able to experience it before anyone can,” Cifuentes said.
“Once I purchase the glasses I’m planning to call everybody who gave $5 to make sure they know I’m not scamming them,” he said, adding he will schedule times for each one of them to use the glasses.
“I think it’s going to be a big hit. It’s only a matter of time before a lot of people will be wearing it.”
Anyone interested in the deal should email Cifuentes at firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline for him to purchase the glasses is April 1.
