Area wreck hurts WW man

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — State troopers are still investigating what caused a Wynnewood man’s car to go off a road this week near Elmore City.

Eric Larsen, 66, was hurt when the 2002 Chevrolet he was driving left a roadway at a listed time of 3:21 p.m. Thursday.

Larsen was alone while driving eastbound on a county road when he is reported to have lost control of the vehicle at a site about 2 miles east of Elmore City.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers reported the car went off the roadway and first struck a culvert as it then collided with a tree and mailbox before coming to rest.

Larsen, who was not believed to be wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident, was initially taken by an Elmore City E.M.S. ambulance to Pauls Valley General Hospital.

Later he was airlifted to Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City, where he was admitted in stable condition with a head injury.

In a report released by the OHP, Trooper Doug George of the Garvin County Detachment indicated the official cause of the collision is still under investigation.

The report also shows the trooper determined there was an odor of an alcoholic beverage on Larsen.

Others assisting at the wreck site were troopers from Garvin and Murray counties and Garvin County deputies.
