bporterfield@pvdemocrat.com — This is the last week to register to vote or get voter registrations changed before an upcoming election focused on support for Pauls Valley’s hospital.

On the Nov. 12 ballot for local voters is a measure calling for a half cent sales tax that if passed will go to support the operations of Pauls Valley General Hospital.

This Friday, Oct. 18, is the deadline for voter registrations for next month’s local election.

The last day to request mailed absentee ballots is Nov. 6. A change will come with this next round of in-person absentee voting at the Garvin County Election Board office in the county courthouse.

With a new law taking effect on Nov. 1 the early voting days are moving to Thursday and Friday, Nov. 7-8.

Election officials stress the early absentee voting will not be available on the Monday before the election.
