Pauls Valley, Oklahoma —
The spirit of the holidays is already in the air as a handful of area churches are again planning special community gatherings.
Up next is the 15th annual community-wide Thanksgiving dinner hosted by the First Baptist Church of Elmore City.
Held at the church’s Family Life Center, the event is scheduled from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20.
Church officials say it will be a traditional meal of turkey, ham, cornbread dressing, corn, green beans, mashed potatoes, gravy, rolls and dessert.
Carry out orders must be placed in person from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the day of the event. Shut in deliveries are limited to the Elmore City area.
“We have reworked our serving lines and the wait time for dine in is no problem,” church officials said.
“There is actually a shorter wait time to dine in than to pick up take-out meals. We encourage everyone to come dine in with us.”
The church is located one block west of the 4-way in Elmore City. Call 580-788-4110 for more.
A couple of holiday dinners are also coming closer to Pauls Valley — one for Thanksgiving and another geared for the Christmas season.
Cornerstone Community Church will again host a free Thanksgiving dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 28 at Punkin’s Restaurant in PV.

Yeatts Finance and Furniture, 114 East Paul, is continuing to accept donations of non-perishable food for the holiday season.
The food basket drive will continue through Nov. 23.
The public is reminded to show up and take part in a community holiday decoration session at PV’s train depot from noon to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15.
