email@example.com — The event formerly known as the Pauls Valley Chamber of Commerce annual banquet is no more. Now it’s a “celebration” meant to honor those who have given to the chamber and the community.
Sherri Wing, who stepped into the role of chamber president last year, wants to shake things up by bringing a whole new gathering, set this year for a 6 p.m. start June 17 at the Bosa Community Center.
“We’re going to do a completely different format,” Wing said. “We’ll have no emcee, there will be three awards presented and we’ll have a silent auction.
“It will be more of a networking reception where you show your support for the chamber,” she said.
“The change is coming so people can socialize, have fun and just mingle.
“We want to celebrate the good people and good things going on in Pauls Valley. I want people just to enjoy themselves and network.”
Adding to the celebration is the event’s theme, “Jazzin’ it up in June,” complete with live jazz music.
Honors will be going to Howard Grider for serving this past year as the chamber board’s chairman.
Sharon Burgin is set to move in as the new chairman for the coming year.
Another familiar feature includes a couple of honors to a local resident and business.
Those honors are for citizen and corporate citizen of the year.
With that the chamber is asking local residents to help out by submitting their nominations for people or businesses they believe are worthy of the honors.
Nomination forms are available at the chamber office, located at 112 East Paul in the downtown area.
Last year it was a sense of humble gratitude that filled the local meeting center when two individuals, Ronnie Patton and Lucille Ensey, were named the top citizens of the year.
