Much of the musical entertainment is lined up and ready to go for the BrickFest celebration in Pauls Valley this weekend.
Annually held the first weekend in May, this year’s BrickFest event comes on Friday and Saturday, May 3-4 in downtown Pauls Valley.
The sounds of live music will kick off a whole slew of weekend activities ranging from a bike ride to free comic books to festival booths to a traditional brick toss followed by the local Thunder in the Valley bull riding and mutton bustin’ event.
Friday night’s opening activities will feature live bands taking the stage at the Santa Fe Depot.
The musical line up on Friday is Vondie Harding at 6 p.m., Kimberly Bethune at 6:30 p.m., Colby Ham and the Mojo Band at 7 p.m., Dr. Pants at 8 p.m. and Rude Mood at 9 p.m.
Activities on Saturday, May 4 get started with the annual Valley Rally Bike Tour, which offers three routes through the countryside.
The band line up includes Rex Carlton and the Rough Riders at 9 a.m., a Pauls Valley Opry Showcase at 10 a.m., Erica Peacock at 10:30 a.m., Pure Heart at 11 a.m., The Boyle Brothers at 12:30 p.m. and Dylan Black at 2 p.m.
BrickFest’s always popular brick toss event is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.
There will also be a wide variety of festival booths featuring food, arts, crafts, retail and henna and face painting throughout the day.
Other activities include a freestyle stunt team, free horse-drawn carriage rides, Frisbee fun, kids’ games and Miss Rodeo USA.
Also returning is the Toy and Action Figure Museum’s annual “May the 4th Be with You” Star Wars event and Free Comic Book Day.
Free shuttles will also be provided throughout the day by Delta Public Transit to take people back and forth to a vintage aircraft fly-in at the PV airport.
The PV Opry will continue with a free performance starting at 6 p.m. at the Pauls Valley High School auditorium.
