bporterfield@pvdemocrat.com — Employers of all kinds and people looking for that next step will soon come together for a job fair in Pauls Valley.

It’s the Garvin County Job Fair that’s set to go from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at the local Higher Ground Church, located off of state Highway 19 west of Interstate 35.

For one of the sponsoring agencies, the PV Chamber of Commerce, the event is the perfect place for not only those looking for a job but also employers hoping to find the right people to fill out a staff.

“The Garvin County Job Fair has served as the premier job fair in this area,” said chamber Director Della Wilson.

“During recent years there have been major shifts in the economy, but what has remained constant is the satisfaction of the employers attending the fair.

“As the economy recovers, your attendance will provide you with an efficient opportunity to survey a large number of job applicants quickly and inexpensively,” she said, referring to employers planning to have a booth at the fair.

Wilson also believes the growth of the fair in recent years shows how well it’s working for employers and employees alike.

“The large number of employers who return year after year is a testimony to the effectiveness of the Garvin County Job Fair,” Wilson said.

“To those employers who have attended our previous fairs, we thank you for your continued participation. For those of you who are new, we promise you will not be disappointed.”

The wide range of professions represented by employers signed up for the event includes health care, municipal positions, insurance, truck driving, career development, military and corrections.

Those planning to check out all the employers are encouraged to come “dressed for success and ready for a job interview.”
