Pauls Valley, Oklahoma —
Some races have definitely shaped up for school board offices throughout Garvin County as a three-day filing period came to an end Wednesday.
A handful of races came from the filings, specifically for the Elmore City-Pernell, Wynnewood and Maysville school districts, according to listings made available by election officials Wednesday afternoon.
One of those races is for a spot on ECP school board. Filing for the five-year office were Gary Moore, Derrick Tadlock and Joe Lewis.
Filing for a five-year office in Wynnewood were Terry Brown, A. John Geiger and Donnie Rollings.
Another race in Wynnewood, this one for a three-year unexpired term, had Brittany Pittman and Pat LaMascus filing.
Three school board posts in Maysville were included in the filings as one now appears to have a race.
That contest for a three-year unexpired term in Maysville includes Cindy White and Tyler Dean.
Maysville offices with only one candidate went to David Riley (five-year term) and Asheley Close (two-year unexpired term).
One race that didn’t develop was in Pauls Valley as incumbent Michelle Wood was unopposed in winning another five-year term.
Also winning without an opponent was Brent Thompson at Whitebead. The office is a three-year term.
In Stratford, Jason Korzan was unopposed for a five-year school board office.
No candidates filed for an office in Paoli that also includes a five-year term.
Candidates have until Friday, Dec. 7 to withdraw their names from any of the races.
Any school board races will be contested during an annual school election scheduled for Feb. 12, 2013. Any school runoff election would come on April 2, 2012.
Looking ahead the filings for local municipal offices next year will come Feb. 4-6, 2013.
