Spreading the Word

For the last 23 years Billy Wayne Schans has been employed with the United Parcel Service (UPS) and over the past 10 years he has worked as a package vehicle driver serving the Pauls Valley area.

From 10 to 11 hours a day he can be seen delivering packages to businesses in downtown Pauls Valley as well as some local residential and rural route customers.

Those who have spent any amount of time talking to Schans quickly discover what his passion in life is.

“My deepest interest and passion in life is seeing people saved. I’m never too busy to share Christ,” Schans explained.

“I’m willing to stop anytime and share the Word of God and help people on their path, because Bible salvation is the most important thing anybody can have.”

Whereas many men turn to hunting, fishing or other forms of entertainment to relax, Schans said sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ provides him with all the peace and enjoyment he needs.

Though most children are named by their parents, Schans said he actually received his first and middle name from one of his siblings.

“There were eight kids in our family when I was growing up. My oldest brother, Charles, wanted to name me and my mother let him,” Schans said.

“I don’t know where he came up with the names, Billy Wayne, but that’s the ones he chose so that’s what I got.”

While Schans spends much of his life in Pauls Valley, he actually lives near Ardmore in the city of Lone Grove.

He resides there with his wife, Debra, who retired last year from AT&T. The couple has two daughters, Misty and Amanda, and one granddaughter, Kayla Marie, who will be two years old on December 2.”

Schans and his wife have been active members of the Lone Grove United Pentecostal Church for the last seven years where he works in the tape ministry recording and making copies of the pastor’s sermons.
