I’m writing in regards to the April 21 article in the P.V.D.D. about the fuss over the 10 Commandments monument.
I haven’t read the bill itself, but unless it has some really tasteless sidelines connected to it, like so many other bills passed by our government lately, I don’t see any problems with it.
But reading what senators Johnson and McIntyre have to say about it is really upsetting.
I don’t think Oklahomans are backward thinking, and I don’t think “uneducated people” are stupid. What do they mean by “uneducated” anyway?
The older people who never finished school because they had to quit to help their parents or the kids graduating today after 15 years of schooling, who can’t read or write?
Anyway, the “uneducated” part is moot because probably 95 percent of all Oklahomans, even those who can’t read or write, believe in God and the 10 Commandments and they try to live by them.
Even though I’m Agnostic, it seems to me the last several years the government is trying to take God out of America. To me this is just another example of that.
To me, which ever way you regard the 10 Commandments, I’d be one proud Oklahoman to see the monument on the Capitol grounds.
