Big thanks to two PV pros

Dear Editor,

We would like to recognize two very special citizens of our community, Dr. Brian Allee for his commitment to us as his patients, and Mrs. Lauren Robbins, friend and tireless worker.

Recently, my husband and I were vacationing in the British Virgin Islands when my husband became ill with a serious staph infection on his leg. When we realized we had no choice but to be seen by the local hospital on the island of Tortola, I immediately called Dr. Allee to inform him of our situation.

After entering the hospital and seeing the doctor on call in this foreign hospital, we became very aware of the fact that our treatment was going to be very different from the remarkable care we receive in the United States.

Fortunately for us, Dr. Allee is a very caring and hands-on physician and called me back promptly. He relayed the information I needed to make sure my husband was treated properly.

Dr. Allee even agreed to speak with the local island doctor if I became too uncomfortable with the treatment we were receiving.

After being admitted to this very scary, less developed and less modern hospital, Lauren Robbins was up at 2:30 a.m. making emergency flight arrangements for us to get back on U.S. soil.

Lauren was able to get us a flight home for that afternoon and we were able to travel back to the USA.

I called Dr. Allee after we began our journey home and he assured me that he would have everything ready for Brent upon arrival at the Pauls Valley General Hospital.

When we pulled into the Pauls Valley General Hospital ER at 1 a.m. a nurse standing outside asked who we were by name and immediately put my husband in a wheel chair, moved him upstairs and started him on the medications needed to make him well.
