Missing girl found

By Barry Porterfield
Staff Writer

Maysville authorities were at first leaning toward a possible abduction of a local teenager until the missing girl was found safe and sound Wednesday.

However, plenty of questions still remain even though 17-year-old Ann Marie White was reported to be OK after being found at a Maysville residence only a few blocks from her home.

According to Maysville Police Chief Cody Harper, the girl ran away from home, which was uncharacteristic of her.

A tip to police after a drug arrest led to White’s location and subsequently the arrest of four individuals on complaints of harboring a runaway and drug possession.

No information is available on why White ran away from home.

White was reported to have last been seen at about 10 p.m. Sunday at her home in Maysville.

Two days later the call went out by authorities seeking information from the public about White’s disappearance.

“This is going from bad to worse,” said Maysville Police Chief Cody Harper only hours before the teen was located.

“Right now it’s looking more like she was abducted by someone instead of a runaway case,” he said early Wednesday.

Harper indicated at that time it could have possibly been a kidnapping because White “had perfect attendance at school and never left without telling a family member where she was going.”

Called in to help with the case was the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation as agents reportedly began looking at White’s computer to see what web sites she has been visiting lately and who she might have had contact with on the Internet.

The case quickly turned later in the day as Maysville authorities reported they received a tip that two male subjects were possibly involved with White’s disappearance.

When those men were approached while walking down a street marijuana was found in their possession.

That led to their arrest and information about the Maysville residence where White was located at that time.

White was indeed found at the residence as two other individuals were also taken into custody, according to Maysville Police.

No information was released on the four subjects arrested.
