Davis boy killed in ATV accident

A weekend tragedy struck in far southern Garvin County when a 9-year-old Davis boy was killed after the ATV he was driving overturned.

Although Colton Keith Green was wearing a helmet at the time he was still pronounced dead Sunday afternoon after being taken to a Sulphur hospital.

State troopers report Green was driving the all-terrain vehicle on private property about 2 miles west of Interstate 35 and another 1/5 mile north of state Highway 7.

At a listed time of 1 p.m. Sunday the vehicle was traveling down a hill when it went into a broadslide at the base of the hill.

The ATV then rolled one-half time pinning the boy under the vehicle.

Green was the only individual on the vehicle at the time of the accident, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Green was taken by Murray County E.M.S. to Arbuckle Memorial Hospital in Sulphur, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Filed OHP reports indicate the official cause of the collision was listed as the inexperience of a young driver.

Assisting troopers from Garvin and Murray counties at the wreck site were Murray County deputies and Davis firefighters.
