Rodeo events on spring line-up

From Staff Reports

The arrival of spring has brought plenty of activities, such as the approaching start of weekly barrel racing in Pauls Valley and a rodeo event geared at raising money for some volunteer fire departments in the area.

Open 4-D jackpot barrel races at the Pauls Valley Roundup Club Arena will get started April 14.

The arena located at the end of Willow Street in Wacker Park will host the races on Monday nights through Sept. 29.

Exhibitions are scheduled to begin at 6:45 p.m. each of those nights with Class races starting no earlier than 8:30 p.m.

For more information about the races call 405-238-2776 or 405-207-6058 (cell).

The Elmore City Roundup Club is also getting 4-D barrel races started there on Tuesday, April 1. Call Kim at 580-788-2593 for more information.

Also, the 3rd Annual Bull Riders for Firefighters is planned for Saturday, April 12 at the Elmore City Roundup Club Arena.

Proceeds from the open bull riding event set to start at 6:30 p.m. will go to benefit the Pernell, Katie and Elmore City volunteer fire departments.

There is a $65 entry fee as the event is limited to 30 entries. Books are open at 6-9 p.m. Thursday, April 10. To enter call 580-432-5676.

Other events planned include a kids calf scramble, toy race and ladies steer scramble.

Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for children and kids 5 years old and under are free.

For more information about the event, call 580-421-5570 or 405-207-1223.

Also, the Pauls Valley Rotary Club will sponsor the annual “Thunder in the Valley” bullriding contest on Saturday, May 3, at the Pauls Valley Round Up Club Arena.

The event is part of the annual Brickfest celebration in Pauls Valley.

Prior to “Thunder in the Valley” there will be a Mutton Busting contest for children beginning at 5 p.m.

The Mutton Busting contest will be open to all children who want to enter the contest.

For more information on “Thunder in the Valley” and the Mutton Busting contest call Lora Scoggins at 405-238-6466.
