Wynnewood music students take to the road

Pauls Valley Daily Democrat

Four Wynnewood High School band and choir students participated in the state music contests the third week in April.

They performed before an adjudicator for ratings and critique. They earned this honor by receiving superior ratings at district contest in February.

On April 21 the band students traveled to Oklahoma State University in Stillwater to perform their solos.

Cami Mettry received an excellent rating on her snare solo, as did Sabrina Huitt on her marimba solo.

Huitt also earned superior ratings on her snare and timpani solos.

On April 23 the choir students traveled to Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee to perform their solos.

Katie Gilley and Caitlyn Parks both received excellent ratings.

“I’m really proud of all our students,” said band and choir director Keith Huitt.

“It takes a lot of work teach this level of performance, and they all did a great job. I would also like to thank Marsha Mercer for playing our accompaniments. We really appreciate it.”
