The turnout was down but the vote was up for a vote Tuesday that will keep the power on for some time in Pauls Valley.
The big majority of voters who did cast a ballot said yes to a proposal that keeps the local electrical service secure for the next couple of decades plus.
On the ballot was a single item that called for the Oklahoma Gas and Electric company to get a new 25-year franchise here in PV.
In the end 135 of the 137 total votes supported the idea of giving a brand new 25-year franchise to OG&E.
The last local franchise of this type was also approved by PV voters back in 1983.
The most votes in the strictly local election came at the Donihoo/Colley Complex, 39-0 in support.
Other shutouts in support of the franchise proposal came at the PV National Meridian Branch Bank (11-0), Bedré Chocolates (6-0) and absentee ballots finished with a 26-0 tally.
The one precinct total that was the most striking was at Stepping Out east of PV as not a single ballot was cast at that site.
The remaining totals included the Methodist Church (32-1) and the Bosa Community Center (21-1)
The approval simply means exclusive rights will remain with OG&E to continue providing electrical services in Pauls Valley through the local electric distribution system already in place and in use.
