Teen hurt in accident

Inattention is the listed cause of a weekend accident that critically injured a Pauls Valley teenager in a neighboring county.

Hurt in the one-vehicle wreck early Saturday morning was 18-year-old Amanda Killebrew.

State troopers reported Killebrew as traveling alone when the pickup she was driving went off the roadway about one mile west of Coleman in Johnston County.

When the accident occurred Killebrew’s vehicle was traveling eastbound on state Highway 48.

At a listed time of 6 a.m. Saturday, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported the pickup went off the road to the right.

As Killebrew is reported to have overcorrected the vehicle, it then went off the roadway to the left as it overturned one time.

It then came to rest on its wheels ejecting Killebrew about 60 feet from the vehicle’s point of rest. Troopers reported the teen was not wearing seat belts at the time.

OHP trooper Rob Benedict of the Pontotoc County Detachment also listed Killebrew’s inattention as the official cause of the accident.

After the wreck Killebrew was airlifted from the scene to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

Reports show she was admitted in critical condition with head and trunk internal injuries.

Assisting troopers at the wreck site were Milburn and Coleman firefighters.
