Turn results in accident

State troopers reported the turn Friday afternoon was made by 73-year-old Andrew J. Heisserer of Norman, who was riding a bicycle in McClain County at the time.

When Heisserer attempted the turn his bicycle collided with another kind of bike — a motorcycle driven by PV resident Robert Dwayne Miller, 51.

Reports show Heisserer was riding southbound on the shoulder of U.S. Highway 77, while Miller was driving a 2007 Harley Davidson cycle in the same direction.

At a listed time of 1:46 p.m. Friday, Heisserer is reported to have made a left turn into the southbound lane of the highway.

The move took the bicycle into the motorcycle’s path as the two then collided.

The actual wreck site was listed by troopers as being 122 feet south of 160th on U.S. 77.

Heisserer, who was reported to be wearing a helmet at the time, was airlifted to Norman Regional Hospital.

He was admitted in serious but stable condition with injuries to his head, internal and external trunk, arms and legs.

Reports show Miller refused medical treatment at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet when the collision occurred, troopers reported.

Assisting troopers from the Cleveland/McClain County Detachment of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol were Wadley’s E.M.S. and a Wayne fire and rescue crew.
