Charges piling up

By Barry Porterfield

Criminal charges are piling up against a Lindsay man accused of making an early morning run that included peering through windows at several homes there.

Jared Don Bray, 29, is also alleged to have been successful in one of two break-in attempts resulting in what state prosecutors believe was lewd behavior with two young girls.

In all Bray is facing a total of seven charges filed earlier this week in Garvin County District Court.

Each one is based on Bray’s alleged actions on a single day early this summer — June 21 to be specific — at four different Lindsay residences.

Three of the charges are misdemeanor counts of peeping tom as Bray is alleged to have been caught looking into windows three separate times.

Another time that same morning he is accused of getting into a house and inappropriately touching girls aged 8 and 10.

That accusation has Bray facing two felony counts of lewd molestation.

A filed affidavit shows Lindsay police were contacted at 2:43 a.m. June 21 about a person seen trying to look into the window of a residence in the 300 block of Crestwood.

Two individuals at the residence claimed they screamed at the man, who was reported to say he was just looking around as he then ran from the scene.

One of the individuals later used a police photo lineup to point out Bray as the suspect.

The same photo lineup was used to identify Bray for a similar incident that same morning at a Lindsay home in the 300 block of Elmwood.

A filed affidavit show a 13-year-old girl was unable to identify the man she saw looking through a window in the 700 block of NW 7th.

The suspect in that incident is also believed to have made an attempt to force open a window screen, which resulted in a felony count of attempted first-degree burglary being filed.

Even more serious are the allegations against Bray stemming from a report to Lindsay police at 4:14 a.m., again that same day.

Residents at a fourth home claim at least one of the two young girls recognized Bray’s voice as the man who entered through a bedroom window.

The suspect is reported to have laid next to one of the girls.

Two separate molestation charges and a first-degree burglary charge came as a result of the incident.

Court records show another peeping charge filed in May is still pending against Bray.
