Dancing returns to Arbuckle

Saturday night dances have long been a staple in most parts of the country, including south-central Oklahoma.

This Saturday, Oct. 24, that tradition returns in Davis with the reopening of the world famous Arbuckle Ballroom.

The historic venue is located off Interstate 35 at exit 55 in Davis. It’s open to adults only, because low-point alcoholic beverages are on the beverage menu, along with soda.

The ballroom opens at 9 p.m. Saturdays and closes at 2 a.m. A “simple” dress code is to be enforced, defined as “not too fancy,” but “presentable.”

John Jones, the new manager of the Arbuckle Ballroom, attended his first concert at the ballroom. He’s anxious to again provide folks with a place to “enjoy great music and dance.”

Jones owns two other businesses in the region and brings 15 years of nightclub, radio and music background to the job. Besides serving as the ballroom’s manager, Jones will DJ music each Saturday night and double as the master of ceremonies for the evening.

“The focus will be on great dancing music,” Jones said. “Our intentions are to offer something that everyone can enjoy.”
