A ‘Rocky Horror’ cap for festival

Ezra Mann
Pauls Valley Democrat — As the spooky hours draw closer to Main Street Pauls Valley’s Living Dead Center Festival, visitors can be assured of an entire day of fun awaiting them Saturday, Oct. 27.

However, once evening activities begin with the Undead Fashion Show at the PV Arts and Cultural Center, corner of Walnut and Paul, at 6 p.m. those hanging around long enough will notice a familiar light over at the Frankenstein place, according to Main Street Director Samantha Robb.

That’s because starting at midnight, those who have purchased tickets will be treated to the interactive experience of the organization’s first showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

The idea was something Robb had seen other places and had always wanted to host, but only recently learned how to buy the license to show the film.

If one still has the energy to stick around for the late night science fiction musical feature, she promises something where just about everyone will be eventually singing or dancing along to with classic songs like the “Time Warp.”

“It’s something that a lot of people really wanted to do,” said Robb, adding how all proceeds, including refreshments, acts as another way to raise funds for Main Street.

“Well I’ve always wanted to do it... it just fit and let’s see if we can do it.”

Those wanting to get in on the fun that includes people dressing up as characters from the film or throwing objects at the screen will need to do so soon as there is only 140 seats available, said Robb.

Due to the adult language and content in the film it is limited to those 18 or older and each ticket will cost $10 each.

Events earlier in the day include a Zombie 5K run starting downtown at 9 a.m., a Zombie Walk for Cystic Fibrosis at 10 a.m., the Pauls Valley Arts Council Monster Art and Glow Show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the downtown Arts and Cultural Center, coffin cruise soap box races at 1 p.m. and a Monsters Ball and Zombie Prom at 8 p.m.

Tickets for Rocky Horror can be picked up at the Main Street office located at the Stark Art Gallery along Chickasaw Street downtown. For more information contact Robb at 405-238-2555 or at by e-mail.
