The word free is normally not associated with things like agricultural fertilizers. However, that’s exactly the case for a man now living in Paoli who wants to give away a whole bunch of the stuff.
For Matthew McDowell a number of a factors have led to his current offer to give away for free some fertilizer he says is best for agricultural purposes.
Now McDowell is just hoping to get the word out so people can give him a call for more information.
“We’re making this fertilizer free to anyone who wants to go get it,” McDowell said.
“I do not want to sell it,” he said. “I am not looking for profit.
“What I want is to help someone that can use it. Instead of throwing it away I would like to help someone with their crops.”
The substance is described by McDowell as 03-03-03 acidic liquid fertilizer.
He also describes it as a fairly low intensity fertilizer but still highly acidic and best used for crops in the fields.
Currently he says the fertilizer is being stored in 235-gallon mini-bulk tanks now located at a warehouse in Sand Springs.
Not a gimmick, McDowell says it simply comes down to agriculture producers being able to safely transport the fertilizer from the warehouse.
“We just want to get it out of the warehouse,” he said.
“They do need to be handled properly; handled with the normal precautions of anyone who handles any acidic fertilizer.”
For McDowell this current free offer is being made to producers because things just didn’t work out for a company originally hoping to get it on the market.
“I was working with a company in Oklahoma that was working to develop markets for organic fertilizer,” McDowell said.
“I made the material for them so they could repackage it and get it out on the market to resell,” he said.
“Their marketing aspirations turned out to be greater than what the market actually was.”
Anyone interested in the offer is encouraged to call McDowell at 956-367-5314 for more information.
