Cyclist hurt in one vehicle accident

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Troopers believe it was a driver’s inexperience and the speed of his motorcycle that caused an injury accident near Pauls Valley.

Hurt in the accident Thursday night was 25-year-old Jack Austin Eardman of Pauls Valley.

Eardman was alone while driving a 2009 Harley Davidson Sportster.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the motorcycle was traveling westbound on a county road just south of Pauls Valley and the local airport.

The road is listed as County Road 1600. The site was officially listed as 2/10 mile west of U.S. Highway 77 and one mile south of PV.

An OHP report shows at a listed time of 8:29 p.m. June 5 Eardman lost control of the cycle.

The cycle then was laid over on its left side as Eardman was thrown approximately 121 feet.

Adding to the dangerous situation is Eardman was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, reported state troopers investigating the crash site.

Eardman was taken by a Pauls Valley E.M.S. ambulance to PV General Hospital.

He was later transported by ambulance to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

The OHP report shows Eardman was admitted in serious condition with head injuries.

The official cause of the collision is listed as “speed - inexperienced driver.”

Investigating the accident was OHP Trooper Tim Brinson of the Garvin County Detachment. Assisting at the scene were Garvin County deputies.
