Two charged in lengthy drug case

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Two people were charged this week in Garvin County District Court following a narcotics investigation from earlier in the year.

Investigators with the district attorney’s office in District 6 arrested Craig Williamson and Odell Fish of Blanchard in early January in Grady County.

Their arrests led sheriff’s investigators here in Garvin County to two locations in Satterwhite and Hennepin, according to Sheriff Larry Rhodes.

Based on items found during searches at both sites, Dawn Rachelle Tharp, also known as Dawn McKee, 43, and Craig Williamson, 52, are now charged in Garvin County for alleged drug offenses.

Tharp was arrested Tuesday, Nov. 19 on three formal drug accusations.

Williamson is being held in Grady County jail awaiting a December sentencing date on a charge of aggravated trafficking of methamphetamine.

He is expected to be in Garvin County District Court next week for a formal arraignment on charges here.

The investigation dates back to 2012 when information was first received by the Garvin County sheriff’s office that Williamson, known as “Dawg,” was supplying meth to a large part of the county

“The arrest of Craig Williamson had a significant effect on the amount of illegal drugs being sold in this area,” Rhodes said.

“It is estimated Williamson and Tharp were moving several ounces each week of methamphetamine to smaller drug dealers in the Elmore City and Lindsay areas.”

During the execution of the search warrants, a 34 foot trailer valued at $8,500 and reported stolen from North Dakota, was recovered at a property on state Highway 7.

At the Williamson residence, property and money, including over $50,000 in cash, were discovered. Investigators allege the cash and other property totaling over $100,000 is tied to Williamson’s drug activity.

Asset forfeiture documents have been filed by prosecutors against the items.

This case is one of several longer term drug investigations that have recently led to significant arrests by the sheriff’s officials.

“The illegal use and sales of narcotics, including prescription narcotics, continue to be the leading cause for a majority of the crime in Garvin County” said Rhodes.
