Speed at center of cycle wreck

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — A motorcycle’s speed looked to be too much for a Pauls Valley area roadway as an accident sent the driver to the hospital.

That’s the conclusion of state troopers who investigated the one-cycle crash this past weekend.

It came at a listed time of 1:58 p.m. Sunday, June 15.

At the controls of a 1975 Harley Davidson was Kenneth Wayne Johnson, 52, of Newcastle.

Riding along as a passenger was Amber Yvette Johnson, 52.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the cycle was traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 77.

At a site about a quarter mile north of Pauls Valley and just passed Kimberlin Road, the motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve.

Troopers reported the cycle went off the highway to the right as it was laid over on its right side before coming to rest.

Speed on a curve was listed as the official cause of the accident.

Kenneth Johnson was initially taken by a Pauls Valley E.M.S. ambulance to Pauls Valley General Hospital.

He was later transported by ambulance to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

Johnson was admitted in fair condition with leg injuries.

The OHP report shows Amber Johnson was treated for head and arm injuries before being released from the Pauls Valley hospital.

Troopers added neither person is believed to have been wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Investigating the accident was OHP Trooper Tim Brinson of the Garvin County Detachment. Assisting were Garvin County deputies and Pauls Valley police.
