Spittin’ contest delivers wins far and wide

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Visitors to Pauls Valley’s own annual Watermelon Seed Spittin’ Contest continued its tradition of fruity fun, with no trouble in its move to Wacker Park, packing the pavilion as the local Lions Club of Pauls Valley took over duties hosting the event Thursday.

Bringing it to a total of 49 this time around, contestants traveled from as far away as Arizona and Texas.

Darren Jennings from Pauls Valley was the overall winner with his spit of 34.1 feet for the top trophy.

Other winners of the contest were:

• Girls ages 12 and under:

1st Place - Jade Potts

2nd Place - Brooklyn Rickert

3rd Place - Makenn Alee

• Girls ages 13 - 18:

1st Place - Ravyn Previey 2nd Place - Tiffenny Johnson

3rd Place - Amelia Groth

• Females ages 19 and above:

1st Place - Sheri Baxter

2nd Place - Crystal Gregory

3rd Place - Natasha Woodruff

• Boys ages 12 and under:

1st Place - Jacob Miller

2nd Place - Sebastain Loy

3rd Place - Brayden Patchell

• Boys ages 13 - 18:

1st Place - Darius Krieger

2nd Place - Dalton Atchley

3rd Place - Jared Hayman

• Males ages 19 and above:

1st Place - Darren Jennings

2nd Place - Daniel Miller

3rd Place - Tommy Felan
