Search still on for chamber post

bporterfield@pvdemocrat.com — The process is moving forward for a Pauls Valley group looking for that next one after recently losing its longtime leader.

Taking resumes and scheduling interviews — that’s what a search committee made up of members of the PV Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has been doing in recent days as the search is on for a new president.

It all got started last month after Della Wilson announced she would be leaving the position after serving as the local chamber’s director for the past seven years.

Plenty has been going on behind the scenes since then as a search committee, made up of the chamber’s executive board, has been hard at work looking for Wilson’s replacement.

That’s the word of Howard Grider, who only weeks started his tenure as the chamber’s new board chairman.

Grider said this week the process is going smoothly as the search team is already looking at a number of prospective candidates.

“We’re still accepting resumes,” Grider said.

“We haven’t hired anybody yet and haven’t really put a deadline on when we’re going to stop accepting resumes.”

Having already conducted a number of interviews, Grider says the committee will continue accepting resumes from those interested in the job and could be scheduling more interviews as things move forward.

So far there appears to be a good mix of candidates showing interest in the position.

“Some of the candidates are local and others are from out of town,” Grider said. “It looks to be equally split.”

Hopes are the search can come to an end very soon.

“Hopefully we’ll have somebody in place by the end of the month,” he said.

Wilson officially resigned on July 16. She first started as the local chamber’s president back in 2006.

Wilson left the chamber to become a business development officer for First United Bank with her main focus on increasing the volume of business for the banks in the Pauls Valley and Ada areas.
