Cause of wreck still unknown

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Authorities are still investigating what caused a Lindsay woman’s vehicle to go off a roadway in far western Garvin County.

The incident that injured 59-year-old Malea Wescott took place Friday morning, Feb. 28.

State troopers reported Wescott was alone while driving a 2008 Ford pickup.

The vehicle was traveling northbound on state Highway 76 when it went off the roadway to the right at a site about 2 1/2 miles south of Lindsay.

The listed time of the accident was 10:58 a.m. Friday when the truck left the roadway, struck a fence and came to rest in a pasture.

A report released by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol shows an investigation into the accident, such as its official cause and the condition of the driver, is still ongoing.

Wescott, who was wearing seat belts when the accident occurred, was taken by a Lindsay E.M.S. ambulance to Lindsay Municipal Hospital.

She was admitted in stable condition with trunk internal injuries, according to the report.

Investigating the crash was Trooper Jay Clary with assistance from Trooper Doug George, both Garvin County area troopers.
