Diaper drive seeking supplies

Ezra Mann
Pauls Valley Democrat — An area charity that’s done a lot of good covering infants and small children is looking for assistance to replenish supplies.

Renewing said call is the Bare Baby Bottom Diaper Drive. Healthy Beginnings Supervisor Betsy White has seen a lot of good done for parents over the past few years.

It’s much like any service offered by the McClain-Garvin County Youth and Family Center. It reassures that parents don’t have to feel like they have to choose to provide what their child needs.

It also has a track record that has literally answered the call every time.

“That truly has been a blessing,” said White. “We haven’t had to turn anyone away.”

To put it in perspective, White noted how it can cost more than $100 to buy a month’s supply of diapers. There is no one government agency that specifically answers this need.

It’s basically a year round charity that someone can donate to any time. The call is asking for all sizes from infant and up. Money is also accepted so older baby sizes can be purchased.

Healthy Beginnings helps those who are pregnant or have children under the age of one through the Parents as a Teacher curriculum. They help address child development and preparing children for school.

“If you can alleviate something as simple like diapers, it can relieve a lot of stress,” said White. “Those little things can make a difference.”

Diapers can be dropped off at the Healthy Beginnings office, 118 South 2nd Street in Purcell or 918 South Chickasaw in Pauls Valley. Other drop-off points include the Pauls Valley, Purcell, Maysville, Blanchard, Newcastle or Stratford libraries.
