It’s a maybe with drugs, crash

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Authorities believe a driver’s use of medications caused a vehicle to go off a highway and crash this week near Pauls Valley resulting in one injury.

Hurt in the accident on Wednesday, Nov. 27 was 33-year-old Angel D. Towler of Wynnewood.

Towler was the only passenger in the 2004 Chevy Venture van driven by Justin S. Jones, 32, of Paoli.

State troopers reported the van was traveling southbound on Interstate 35 when at a listed time of 12:44 p.m. it went off the right side of the roadway.

An Oklahoma Highway Patrol report shows the van then struck an I-35 guard rail, where it overturned one complete time coming to rest on its wheels.

The wreck site was around four miles north of Pauls Valley.

Towler was taken by a Pauls Valley E.M.S. ambulance to PV General Hospital.

She was later airlifted to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. She was admitted in stable condition with head and trunk internal injuries.

Jones was also taken to the Pauls Valley hospital, where he was treated and released.

Both were wearing seatbelts when the accident occurred, according to the OHP report.

That same report also lists the cause of the accident as “drug-DUI,” while troopers concluded the driver was “under the influence of medications.”

Leading the investigation was OHP Trooper Tommy Riddle of the Garvin County Detachment.

Others assisting at the scene were Pauls Valley fire and rescue crews and Garvin County deputies.
