Area crash looks to be DUI

Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Drinking and driving appears to have been the cause of a one-vehicle accident this weekend injuring a Wynnewood man.

State troopers reported alcohol was at the center of the wreck that resulted in a head injury for Kendall Sprague, 32.

Sprague was alone while driving a 2009 Toyota pickup that went off an area highway early Sunday morning at a site east of Wynnewood.

A report released by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol shows Sprague was traveling eastbound on state Highway 29 when he attempted to turn his vehicle to the left and onto a county road.

The attempt didn’t work as Sprague failed to negotiate the turn as the pickup ran off the roadway overturning 1 1/4 times coming to rest on its side.

A trooper investigating the crash site described Sprague as having his driving ability impaired by drinking. The listed cause of the accident was driving under the influence of alcohol.

The accident occurred at 1:05 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 25 at a site about 2 miles east of Wynnewood.

Sprague was taken by Pauls Valley E.M.S. to Pauls Valley General Hospital, where he was admitted in stable condition with a head injury.

Reports show he was not wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.

Investigating the wreck site was OHP Trooper Doug George of the Garvin County Detachment.

Others assisting at the scene were Wynnewood police and firefighters and Garvin County deputies.
