Clinton Stubblefield
Eugene Clinton Stubblefield was born on July 15, 1930 in Elmore City, Oklahoma to Calvin Eunice and Mable Myrtle (Pyle) Stubblefield and passed from this life on May 1, 2008 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 77 years.
Clinton grew up and spent his childhood days in Elmore City and attended Elmore City schools.
He worked in the oil field until entering the U.S. Army. He served as a communication line foreman and was awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Korean Presidential Medal which was pinned on him by Gen. Sigmund Rei, the U.N. Service medal and the Bronze Service Star.
After receiving an honorable discharge he again worked in the oil field until moving to Oklahoma City where he worked in construction. This resulted in his long-time association with Steve Vickers of Vickers Construction Company.
Steve was like a son, as well as his employer. Clinton continued as a field supervisor with Vickers Construction until his death.
He was remembered by his former customers as “one of the best dirt engineers in Oklahoma.”
On June 5, 1975, Clinton married Donna Graves in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.
His family takes pride in remembering his love and kindness for his family and his responsibility of always doing just exactly what he said he would.
Clinton was a man of his word, dedicated to doing his job always in the best way it could be done. He told his children when they were small, “There are two things I do not abide by, a liar or a thief.” This belief was instilled in them at an early age.
Clinton enjoyed fishing, being at the lake, quail hunting, water skiing and having his grandchildren come to see him.
