Clinton Stubblefield

Eugene Clinton Stubblefield was born on July 15, 1930 in Elmore City, Oklahoma to Calvin Eunice and Mable Myrtle (Pyle) Stubblefield and passed from this life on May 1, 2008 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 77 years.

Clinton grew up and spent his childhood days in Elmore City and attended Elmore City schools.

He worked in the oil field until entering the U.S. Army. He served as a communication line foreman and was awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Korean Presidential Medal which was pinned on him by Gen. Sigmund Rei, the U.N. Service medal and the Bronze Service Star.

After receiving an honorable discharge he again worked in the oil field until moving to Oklahoma City where he worked in construction. This resulted in his long-time association with Steve Vickers of Vickers Construction Company.

Steve was like a son, as well as his employer. Clinton continued as a field supervisor with Vickers Construction until his death.

He was remembered by his former customers as “one of the best dirt engineers in Oklahoma.”

On June 5, 1975, Clinton married Donna Graves in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.

His family takes pride in remembering his love and kindness for his family and his responsibility of always doing just exactly what he said he would.

Clinton was a man of his word, dedicated to doing his job always in the best way it could be done. He told his children when they were small, “There are two things I do not abide by, a liar or a thief.” This belief was instilled in them at an early age.

Clinton enjoyed fishing, being at the lake, quail hunting, water skiing and having his grandchildren come to see him.

Mr. Stubblefield is survived by his wife, Donna Stubblefield of the home; three sons: Ricky Stubblefield and his wife Patsy of Wynnewood, Oklahoma, Jeff Stubblefield of Wynnewood, Oklahoma, and Randy Stubblefield and his wife Susie of Lindale, Texas; one daughter, Shelly Roady and her husband Darren of Elmore City, Oklahoma; three brothers: Harold Stubblefield and his wife Diann of Elmore City, Oklahoma, Donald Stubblefield and his wife Verba Lee of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Curtis Stubblefield and his wife Sue of Wynnewood, Oklahoma; two sisters: Carolyn Moxley and her husband Butch of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Elaine Fancher and her husband Chuck of Wynnewood, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren: Melinda, Melissa Josh, Calvin, Grace and Molly Stubblefield, Nathan, Jonathan and Ryan Roady.

Mr. Stubblefield is preceded in death by his brother, Vernon Stubblefield; his sister, Karen Burnett; and his parents, Calvin and Mable Stubblefield.

Funeral services for Eugene Clinton Stubblefield are scheduled for Monday, May 5, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the Wynnewood Church of Christ, Wynnewood, Oklahoma with Clint Brown officiating. nterment will be in the Elmore City Cemetery, Elmore City, Oklahoma.

Services are under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.woosterfuneralhomes.com.
