Maurine Estelle Loe Canaday

Maurine Estelle Loe Canaday was born in Kidder, Missouri, on Jan. 30, 1912, to Anna (Miller) and Emmett Otto Loe. She passed away peacefully Nov. 2, 2009, at Ranchwood Nursing Center in Yukon, Okla.

Maurine married Walter “Duff” Canaday in 1939. They were married 53 years until Duff’s death in 1992. Duff was a Presbyterian minister.

Together they ministered in St. Joseph, Mo., Erie, Penn., Springfield, Ohio, Phoenix, Ariz., Kansas City, Kan., Union Star, Mo., Bentonville, Ark., Pauls Valley, Okla., Yukon, Okla., and Oklahoma City, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers: Dale and John Loe.

Maurine is survived by sons: Jon Canaday, St. Joseph Mo., Scott (Karen) Canaday, Yukon, Okla., Duncan Canaday Sr., Oklahoma City, and daughter, Lisa (Eric) Okeke, Oklahoma City.

Maurine was “Grammie” to 14 grandchildren: Eric (Laura) Canaday, Yukon, Okla., Jason (Carrie) Canaday, Richardson, Texas, Jeremy (Micah) Canaday, Edmond, Okla., Jennifer (Ken) Gallon, Grove, Okla., Erin (Shannon) Fast, Oklahoma City, Duncan Canaday Jr., Oklahoma City, James Canaday, Oklahoma City, Meagan (Rex) Dommer, North Carolina, Rachel Tuohy, Corpus Christi, Texas, Timmy Fisher, Midwest City, Okla., Elisabeth, Erica, and Alex Okeke, Oklahoma City, Chris Okeke (Azam), Phoenix, Ariz.

“Grammie” also leaves 15 great-grandchildren: Mattie, Allie and Carson Candaday, Yukon, Okla., Ava Mae Canaday, Richardson, Texas, Jayce, Holden and River-Kate Canaday, Edmond, Okla., Caylon Kipers, Grove, Okla., Infinity Crawford, Corrine and Josh Brooks, Oklahoma City, Mason Canaday, Oklahoma City, Olivia Dommer, N.C., Kelee Canaday, Oklahoma City, Laila Elisabeth Okeke, Oklahoma City; and sister-in-law, Elisabeth Loe, St. Joseph, Mo.

A special thank you to Dr. Michael Ferguson, the staff at Victorian Estates, Ranchwood Nursing Center and Autumn Bridge Hospice.

Visitation with the family is from 6-8 p.m. Thursday. Services will be in Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2009. Maurine will be laid to rest with her beloved husband at Rose Hill Burial Park in Oklahoma City
