Pauls Valley, Oklahoma — Opal Lee Watts of Stratford, Oklahoma was born November 27, 1916 in Van Buren County, Arkansas to Curry L. and Ruth (Griffin) Duke. She passed away November 14, 2013 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 96 years, 11 months and 17 days.

The family moved to Stratford, where Opal attended Stratford High School.

She was married to Willie A. Watts in Stratford on September 4, 1934. She worked with Willie at the Watts Cotton Gin and in the farming and cattle operations they owned.

Opal also worked at the Stratford Post Office for many years and was the assistant postmaster when she retired. After Willie died in 1977, she continued his term on the Garvin County Soil Conservation District Board of Directors and was later elected to continue on the board serving one term as chairman.

She was a long time member of Stratford United Methodist Church, and was always expected to bring at least one of her delicious coconut pies to the fellowship dinners.

She most recently received a certificate of appreciation from the Pauls Valley Beautification for her beautiful flower beds at the Willows Assisted Living Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Willie on August 20, 1977; and siblings Dwade Perry, Pete Duke, Neil Duke, Nadine Duke, Billy Joe Duke and Beverly Duke Genge.

She is survived by one son, Donald Watts and wife Helen of Houston, Texas; one daughter, Marguerite Arn of Oklahoma City, Okla.; four grandchildren: Susan Arn White and husband Bill, Shannon Watts and wife Lisa, Robyn Arn, and Tracy Watts Felan and husband Tommy, six great-grandchildren: Tye Felan Jacobson and husband Loren, Trevor Felan, Emily Leveridge, Abby Leveridge, Trent Watts, and Spencer Watts; three great-great-grandchildren, Mora and Jake Jacobson, and Cohen Leveridge; and one brother, H. Keet Duke, California.

The family will have a viewing and reception for family and friends on Sunday, November 17 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Pickard Funeral Home in Stratford.

Services will be held Monday, November 18, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Stratford United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Lois Bartley. Burial will be in McGee Cemetery in Stratford, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers will be Shannon Watts, Tommy Felan, Trevor Felan, Loren Jacobson, Trenton Watts, and Spencer Watts. Honorary Pallbearers are Bill Medlock Jimmy Jarrell, O.A Savage, Bill Barnum, Mitchell Barnum, and R.B. Wadley.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Chandler Watts Library, United Methodist Church Stratford, or Valley Hospice, Pauls Valley.
