Robert Dale (Bill) Pyle was born on November 10, 1916 to Gameliel McCowan and Carrie Belle (Anderson) Pyle Stubblefield, a mile south of Satterwhite, Oklahoma.
He entered the presence of God at 10:05 a.m. Sunday, July 28, 2013 at his home in Elmore City at the age of 96 years, 8 months, and 18 days.
He was married to Nora Leola Burcham on December 24, 1941. They were married 70 years and 6 months. Leola preceded him in death by one month and three days.
He is survived by three children: Lanora Joan Pyle McConnell Barnett, Bobby Dale Pyle and wife Patsy and Lila Jean Pyle Sexton Parker, all of Maysville, Oklahoma.
He is also survived by five grandchildren: Leroy Robert Barnett of Oklahoma City, Lisa Denise Barnett of Moore, Oklahoma, Youllonda DeElenor Sexton Driver and husband Chris of Katy, Texas, Carrie Ann Pyle Arter and husband Darryl of Lindsay, Oklahoma, Coy Dale Pyle and wife Glennys of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
He is survived by nine great-grandchildren: Lila Joan Barnett Thompson and husband Don, Kayla Driver, Kendyl Driver, Kody Driver, Taylor Arter, Kaleb Arter, and Kylee Arter, Elijah Pyle and Noah Pyle.
He is survived by three great-great-grandchildren Bailey, Austin and Kelsey Thompson. He is also survived by one sister-in-law, Helen Pyle of Elmore City and a host of friends and relatives.
Bill was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Elbert, in February 1920.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Rosa Lea, and an infant daughter, Essie Merle Pyle in May 1941.
He was preceded in death by his mother, a brother Mack Pyle, and five half sisters Martha Pyle Wilson, Ruth Pyle Johnson, Arizona Pyle Martin, Nola Pyle and Mamie Faye Stubblefield Chaney.
He was preceded in death by five step brothers and two step sisters Cecil Stubblefield, Lewis Stubblefield, Eunice Stubblefield, Leo Stubblefield, Bob Stubblefield, Minnie Mae Stubblefield Pyle and Rosa Lee Stubblefield Martin.
Bill was baptized into Christ in 1946. He was a faithful member of the Elmore City Church of Christ for many, many years and he and Leola raised their children in this church. He believed that by his confession of faith and baptism that he had an assurance of eternal life.
Bill grew up and attended school at Satterwhite and Prairie Point. On December 24, 1941, Bill and Nora Leola Burcham were united in marriage at the Elmore City First United Methodist Church.
He farmed and ranched and also worked for Kerr McGee. In his spare time he loved playing dominoes, deer hunting, squirrel hunting, and reading. The highlights of his life were his grandchildren and family.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at the Church of Christ in Elmore City, Oklahoma with Joe Terrell and Curtis Stubblefield officiating.
